Music therapy

Music therapy is a clinical profession used to support people  with diverse needs through individualized music interventions. Music therapy is an evidence-based field provided by credentialed professionals who received their education from an accredited music therapy program. Music therapy focuses on the client’s social, emotional, cognitive, physical, and spiritual goals. To learn more about music therapy, please visit the American Music Therapy Association.

At CMS, our board-certified music therapists support people at any age with varying abilities, diagnoses, and neurodiversities through a person-centered approach. Clients may be diagnosed with intellectual disabilities, developmental disabilities, autism, ADHD, anxiety, depression, traumatic brain injury/stroke, dementia, and many more.

If you have questions or would like to speak to one of our board-certified music therapists before registering, please email us at [email protected].

  • There is an annual $30 registration fee per client, not to exceed $90 per household.
  • There is also a $35 music therapy consult fee.
  • Financial aid is available depending on need & other requirements set by CMS funders.

After receiving your registration, you will be contacted by a music therapist to begin our consultation process. This initial contact will focus on demographic information, areas of support, areas of success, and music therapy techniques that may be used.  The therapist will schedule a consultation session where they will work with you or your child to ensure music therapy is appropriate and supportive for them. Once evaluated, the therapist will offer their recommendations and create a treatment plan for those who would benefit from music therapy services. The therapist will connect you with the CMS office to be scheduled for sessions.
