Please allow us to introduce you to Annie Titus.
Annie was diagnosed with autism at a young age, and like many autistic children, struggles with communication. In fact, her parents were told when she was barely 5 that she would probably never speak. In an effort to expand Annie’s social interactions, her parents enrolled her in voice lessons at Community Music School of Buffalo, where she has been studying since December 2014.
The attached video is the first time Annie has performed – and what a performance! This is the very first time her family has ever heard her sing, and her natural operatic voice brought the entire room to its feet, and her family to tears. We applaud Annie for finding the courage to perform in front of an audience, and we hope that you find the video and the story behind it as inspirational as we at Community Music School have.
Annie would be honored to be able to share her story with other autistic individuals and families – or anyone interested in growing through music lessons- with the hope that they too can find a way through music to find their voice in the world.
